I started writing this blog when I began my research into Alice’s life and her marriage to my father. I hoped it would enable me to build interest in her story and reach out to those who knew her. In that it proved to be successful; through the blog, I was contacted by relatives of Alice, Dora and Helena.

I have used the blog to chart the progress of my research and describe my travels in search of Erwin and Alice. Sometimes I travelled alone, as during most of my month in Prague, and at other times I was accompanied by my husband, Nick. He was also able, through one of his work contacts, to help me gain access to the prisons in Prague.

As the blogs were written as I was researching, many of the unresolved questions or assumptions in the earlier blogs were superseded in the later ones.

They can be read in either direction, but it is probably easier to follow the story if you start at the beginning.
